Mythbusters and viral surfers

I’m sure it’s fun releasing a video in which some waves are generated by a dynamite explosion and seeing that, time after that, Mythbusters try to prove if it can be done or not.

(thx Andros!)

I’m watching the crazy guys on myth busters now. They’re trying to clean out the inside of a cement truck using dynamite. Guess it’s better than using a jack hammer.

Great show. Makes being a science nerd cool.

This viral spot was actually shot in Copenhagen. FX specialists used a 22kg plastic explosive device 4 metres below the surface of the water to get the wave action. The explosion was 50 metres in height at its peak. The video was seeded to 1000 preselected sites and made it to 95 percent of all surf sites within four days of it’s release. An estimated 25 million people have seen the spot.
