The YouTube video is used to promote surf wear, Rip Curl. Rip Curl not only used their social media resources of YouTube, but also teamed up with Timeslice Films therefore providing a real life video of surfers using their surf gear. The video gives Rip Curl a very professional reputation and the credibility with the professional surfers in the video itself will provide a positive message to the target audience.
This video uses professional surfers as the spokespeople for the ad. This type of ad is similar to ads such as Gatorade who use a celebrity or athlete to promote their service or product. Often times using celebrities as spokespeople this is an easy way to reach out to a specific target audience. Along with the use of YouTube as the media outlet; a spokesperson (professional surfers) are useful in this advertisements.
