A cell phone for GrandPa

The US mobile phone industry is ready to target a "new" generation of consumers: seniors. An article on the The New York Times (free reg. req.) highlights the senior population represents a great opportunity for the market to grow. It won't be easy, since elder people have a lot of concerns around mobile technologies, but if the industry will meet their expectations, the success will be granted.

Is true... I live in India. and I find here that the seniors have a need to be connected and they have the money. but they also are not always comfortable with "technology" and dont have products targeted at them. why are marketers not taking this segment seriosuly?

Great observations here. I recently read that mobile phone marketers are planning to integrate religious time alerts into cell phones in India. This way, cell phones will become further entrenched into the daily rituals of muslims in the Far East.
