Infographic: Google beats Facebook media

on May 16, 2012 by Tim Comments

For the last few years I have been convinced that running Facebook ads is a pretty solid strategic choice. At the same time I found them creatively limiting: tiny pics or video thumbnails and condensing the message into a slither of straight-to-the-point copy. In light of Facebook’s multi-billion IPO comes news that Facebook ads are also not quite as effective as we might think. At least when you compare them to those of the other digital ad juggernaut, Google.

Red Stripe: Street Art at shutter speed

on May 16, 2012 by Tim Comments

Red Stripe’s “Make Art On The Street” released this animation of a special piece of street art. Scottish artist Spaceboy, helped by his graphic students from Edinburgh College of Art, animated his paste-ups on the shop shutters of Newhaven Harbour. It is a nice animation in itself, capturing and recording each frame of the paper installation. Archifon lets angels sing

on May 11, 2012 by Tim Comments

This installation in the Olomouc chapel (Czech Republic) makes great use of projection mapping. Instead of simply watching an impressive choreography of optical illusions, Archifon’s audience can participate via laser pointers. Aiming at individual figures and architectural elements creates light and sound, letting the visitors be collaborative, audiovisual composers. This kind of interaction should be applied more and could lift projection mapping out of the ‘yesterday’s novelty’ category.

Lynx Invisible Anarchy

on May 8, 2012 by Tim Comments

Imagine a house full of anarchy – but the only way you could see it, is if you wore the right glasses! Lynx Australia promoted their new scent Anarchy (for men and women) with a world-first ‘invisible video’ stunt. A house in Sydney’s busy party district Darlinghurst was decked out with large LCD screens instead of windows. Wearing the right kind of (polarised) glasses was the only way to discover the sexy and anarchic things going on within the house. Read more…

C&A displays Facebook fashion Likes

on May 6, 2012 by Tim Comments

When you go shopping for fashion, it’s always good to get a second opinion. Now what about if you could get the opinion of thousands of Facebook users, instantaneously and clearly visible in the shop, right there on the hanger? Would that sway your decision? DM9/DDB equipped a C&A store in Sao Paolo with special hangers that show in real time the “Likes” each piece of clothing has received. Read more…
