Metro: Dumb ways to die

Trains are dangerous things. And if you’re not careful around them, you could end up dying in the dumbest way possible. That’s the message behind a new ad campaign for Melbourne, Australia’s Metro Trains. They’ve tapped a local artist to record a catchy little tune and set it too the cutest little death animations you’ll ever see. Chrome’s 100,000 stars project

This is pretty mind blowing. Google Chrome’s new experiment conquers the galaxy. 100,00 Stars is an interactive visualization of the stellar neighborhood created for the Google Chrome web browser. It includes real location data of over 100,000 nearby stars, including 87 major named stars and our solar system.

Windows 8 Prank

Aussies LOVE cricket. Vodafone Australia has launched a new campaign for cricket lovers across the nation. Go to the site and order a ‘book’ or download a cover for a book and you instantly have a cover for your mobile phone to ‘pretend’ you are doing something super useful, when in fact you are actually watching the cricket. The Hobbit takes over Air New Zealand in-flight safety video

This is probably going to be the coolest in-flight safety video you’ve ever seen and for sure the only one you will watch from start to finish. Air New Zealand is now officially the Airline of the Middle-Earth. To prove the new positioning, and to promote the upcoming release of the Hobbit movie, the Kiwi airline released an hilarious and super well produced in-flight safety video featuring some unusual but well recognizable passengers. I’ve always wanted to go to South by South West (SxSW) and finally got an opportunity to attend, courtesy of an application my agency, Hothouse, developed for Tablets.  As many industry people know, SxSW started life as a music festival but for many years has also included streams for the film and interactive industries. This year’s Interactive Festival attracted around 27,000 people. And since the festival is held in Austin, a town who’s motto is “let’s get weird”, there is plenty to talk about. Read more…
