Windows 8 Prank

on November 9, 2012 by Mark Comments

One of the coolest things about Windows 8 are the Live Tiles. Microsoft thinks so too so they created a prank that involved a light up floor tile (think Michael Jackson’s Billie Jean) and a collapsing wall. Probably set-up but fun anyway by McCann Oslo and via Gizmodo

Durex China: The Difference Between Obama and Romney

on November 8, 2012 by Mark Comments

Durex are famously bold with their advertising and this latest ad is no exception, posted up to Sina Weibo after the election results were announced.

Sneaky Vodafone books

on November 1, 2012 by Mark Comments

Aussies LOVE cricket. Vodafone Australia has launched a new campaign for cricket lovers across the nation. Go to the site and order a ‘book’ or download a cover for a book and you instantly have a cover for your mobile phone to ‘pretend’ you are doing something super useful, when in fact you are actually watching the cricket. Nice idea from Scott Mortimer and Wellison D’Assuncao at Ogilvy in Sydney. Read more…

The Hobbit takes over Air New Zealand in-flight safety video

on October 31, 2012 by Martina Comments

This is probably going to be the coolest in-flight safety video you’ve ever seen and for sure the only one you will watch from start to finish. Air New Zealand is now officially the Airline of the Middle-Earth. To prove the new positioning, and to promote the upcoming release of the Hobbit movie, the Kiwi airline released an hilarious and super well produced in-flight safety video featuring some unusual but well recognizable passengers. A SXSW summary/journey from Simon van Wyk

on March 19, 2012 by Mark Comments

Guest poster Simon van Wyk (founder of HotHouse).

I’ve always wanted to go to South by South West (SxSW) and finally got an opportunity to attend, courtesy of an application my agency, Hothouse, developed for Tablets.  As many industry people know, SxSW started life as a music festival but for many years has also included streams for the film and interactive industries. This year’s Interactive Festival attracted around 27,000 people. And since the festival is held in Austin, a town who’s motto is “let’s get weird”, there is plenty to talk about. Read more…

XXXX Beer and Mates Paradise

on March 15, 2012 by Mark Comments

Your own private island hang-out with your mates. XXXX GOLD beer today announced it has acquired a 15-acre island on the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Australia – called ‘XXXX Island’. Designed to be the ultimate destination for mates’ trips away, XXXX Island will offer Aussies the chance to experience what XXXX GOLD terms the ‘good life’ – a relaxing few days where you can do as little, or as much, as you want with activities including fishing, touch footy, beach cricket, swimming in the ocean or simply barbecuing the catch of the day with a beer in hand. I want to go there!!! Read more…

The first advergame you can play vs. your cat

on March 14, 2012 by Martina Comments

You can now play air hockey against your cat. At SXSW Purina presented a new iPad game where (human) players have to fight for a bowl of animated Friskies cat food, battling against their very own cats. The idea of advergames for cats isn’t new, as Purina launched last year the first series of tablet games for cats only, however a digital challenge between humans and cats is probably the innovation many of us have been waiting for for ages (you know this comment is meant to be ironic, don’t you?). Remote control banner ad

on March 13, 2012 by Bridget Comments

It’s been a long time since I’d given up hope on banner ads but I thought this campaign from Beacon (Tokyo) for AR Drone was interesting to say the least.  I think a lot could be done in terms of execution but I love how the idea is strongly linked to product experience. Yes we know this cool toy has been around for a while but this execution is new. Read more…

Google – Project Re:Brief

on March 12, 2012 by admin Comments

It is getting harder to find things which are actually new. Those ones that make you stop everything you are doing to log in to your blog and write your impressions about what you saw. Sharing has become a commodity. You have not even finished seeing something and you already share it. Sometimes you share without even seeing it. A friend of yours recommends it and, because you trust their good taste, you pass it on. The text turns into, best case scenario, either a compliment or a brief description of what you are passing on. Read more…
