Nike launches video podcasting push

November 7, 2005 at 2:57 by Martina Comments

Nike has just launched a multimedia campaign starring Ronaldinho and the new Tiempo Legend shoe. As NMA explains, the campaign includes mobile, online and video podcasting push. Nike is going to be the first brand to enable consumers to download Ronaldinho’s video on their iPod. There is no above-the-line media spend for the campaign, so Nike will only rely on word-of-mouth to spread the idea.

The campaign idea is great, I mean, the fact that they combine digital channels to deliver the message, but I saw the video and it isn’t really as good as I expected. Ok, I’m not a big football fan, nor a football player but I found it rather boring.

I can see you are not a football fan but - what Ronaldinho does in that video is amazing. Try to hit the post for times in a row… I’ve never seen anything like it! He’s the only one in the world able to do that.

  2. its like that LeBron James where he hits courtlong shots, what he does is “impossible”… it is of course a great gimmick…

What Ronaldinho did was quite incredible…if it is not fake, but hey it’s created a buzz. What disappointed me about the Nike campaign was the shortsighted mobile element and the fact that it was not really viral in that the downloaded video was over 32MB in size, not something you can email to a friend is it.
