Adverblog writes: Guess what's the 21st century Swiss Army knife equivalent? The answer is on Reveries in an article by Scott Goodson, it's the mobile phone.
This is something that SMLXL has been looking at for some time. Mobile marketing. How to succeed in a connected age is an article SMLXL was commissioned to write by the marketing society. And Living in a mobile world is an extension of that thinking. Last year we look at the impact of mobile telephony and communnications in our whitepaper The Impact of Mobility Global overview, statistics, advances in mobile communications.
Goodson makes this observation:
The unstoppable rise of mobile phones has started to have a serious effect on rival sectors. Sony recently announced it is to stop selling personal digital assistants (PDAs) outside Japan, citing a declining demand. Others are expected to follow suit. Who would have predicted such a plunge a few years ago when PDAs were the ultimate executive toy? Nowadays it seems people can get it all for less with a cell. Sony considers mobile phone devices a key aspect of its strategy to converge content like music, movies and wireless games with hardware
SMLXL has been reseraching and mapping these changes with our partners, particuarly Tomi Ahonen who sits on SMLXL's consulting board.
We say you ain't seen nothin yet.
