Mike Grenville at 160 Characters did a great job collecting info worldwide and building up a page with the number of text messages sent worldwide on New Year’s eve and New Year’s day. I can add a number from Italy, where Telefono Blu has estimated 100 million SMS have been sent to welcome the New Year. As Silicon reports, in Australia a lot of people complained that text messages sent by friends and family based in Europe on New Year’s Eve have taken up to five days to cover the distance.
