Video of the Day: Disney goes Anime

Today’s pick is a pretty interesting TVC by Disney which… doesn’t look like a Disney thing. The spot promotes the Disney Tokyo Resort, where Disneyland is located. I’m posting this video because it’s beautifully done, although pretty full of rhetoric, but most of all I think it’s very curious to see an animation global brand like Disney choosing a visual language completely different from the one of “products” or characters they sell. The animated short is inspired to the classic tale Little Red Riding Hood by Charles Perrault, but uses a new perspective to tell the story, with a contemporary stylized visual and musical approach. As my job and my career are evolving, I’m becoming more and more a fan of video storytelling. From TV commercials, to branded short movies, music video clips and random individual projects, I just love admiring the ability that some people has to tell stories, engage, entertain, explain places and share feelings using a video camera and a good dose of ability and creativity. There is so much talent out there, that every day I happen to watch at least one video that grabs my attention, this is why I decided to start a regular (possibly) daily feature here on Adverblog, to celebrate the heroes of Vimeo and not only.
