Work is in the air…

The geniuses from Waskman came up with a very original idea to advertise the new Vodafone “Oficina Movil” (“Mobile Office”) service, which main value is to avoid freelancers and small businesses being wire-dependant on mobile phones, office phones and data services through 3G technology. So after a while of thinking who the target was they realized they could be the perfect target, so they proposed Vodafone moving their offices to the middle of Madrid and Bilbao for three weeks, writing about the whole process in a few sites.

The main site was “Reinventamos el fijo” (“we reinvent the landline”) in which you could see some of the process to build the proposal and a few stories about some characters that match with the campaign target and how the product solves the problems caused by being dependant on a fixed location.

“Trabajando desde cualquier sitio” (“working from anywhere”) was a parallel blog created to write about the process of working in a glass “cage” and at ten meters above ground level, including a live webcam broadcasting what was happening inside the “new” offices.
A little video about the whole thing:

And another one on how the cube was built:

You can also find some pics at Vodafone Spain’s Flickr album.

    Really brainy!

In Belgium, advertising agency Famous did EXACTLY the same thing a few months ago.
To advertise the mobile office service from the Belgian mobile operator Proximus, the advertising agency moved its offices into a field near Brussels for a day.
The campaign went by pretty unnoticed, with a little attention from a few Belgian ad blogs, including mine. So I think the similarity is just a coincidence. But it’s not very original…
