Back with the interviews today. Very glad to host Mervyn Ten Dam, Creative Director & Owner at ACHTUNG!, an agency that does amazing digital work and has been often featured here on Adverblog.

Q1. What is the number one thing about your job that gets you out of bed in the morning?
Probably the curiosity what unexpected surprises this day is gonna bring : ) Never a dull moment @ ACHTUNG!

Q2. What are your favorite sites/digi campaigns right now?

Shameless, but we just did a campaign for Volkswagen on Linked-In which was big fun, it’s called Linked-Uit (UIT is Dutch for OUT) which i like still after 3 weeks : ) see foryourself: http: www.linkeduit.nl

Q3. Who is the new kid on the block - the agency/business to watch for the future?
Not completely new, but still like the ‘Anomaly’ approach and ideas they develop.

Q4. What sector would you say is furthest ahead in digital marketing at the moment?
Think it’s more ‘brands’ then whole sectors that do well. Naturally the Sportbrands do pretty OK, Nike (as always) setting the standard on both campaign and ‘digital services’ level. Furthermore the automotive industry is catching up pretty quick, Mitsubishi and Ford (USA)for example try hard!

Q5. What technology or initiative is most likely to revolutionize Web/mobile marketing?

I think on a service level, Location Based services / campaigns will be ‘the bomb’

Q6. If you could wave your magic wand and change one thing about digital marketing what would it be?

Replace the word ‘marketing’ for ‘communication’ and ban ‘online billboards’ called Banners.

Q7. What’s the biggest mistake people are making in mobile/Web marketing?
Forgetting the importance of hi-end execution. Top notch design, seamless interaction. Also when your doing a simple Facebook App..

Q8. What is the most useful resource site/blog you use?
It is creativity-online, as digital and traditional advertising are merging, this is the place to snack from both of them. Furthermore Nathan (from Rubbishcorp) has a good tradition in sharing sweet, innovative digital campaigns and interesting technology.
