Expedia Tag Me If You Can

In Australia and New Zealand Expedia has launched a Youtube-based contest that takes geo-tagging to a whole new level of fun. In Tag Me If You Can the host, Nathan Jolliffe (a local surf celebrity) travels around the world to 15 secret destinations. Every day he gives clues to participants who have to guess where he is and tag his location within 10 metres for the chance to win a cash prize.

IKEA Introduces Nursery for Men

Men with short retail attention span and shopping-averse men in Australia have now a solution to escape the pains of weekend shopping at Ikea. And it’s Ikea itself proposing a solution: it’s called Manland and it’s a day-care for husbands and boyfriends who want to take a break from the shopping. The space works exactly like the play-space for kids, wiht a dedicated area in the store offering free hot dogs, Xbox consoles, pinball machines and nonstop sports action on TV.

Australia’s Interactive Census Infographic

Nice way to get people to understand what a Census is. On Tuesday August 9, Australia is having a Census. But what does a Census really mean for Australia, and why is it important? I just found out that Australia’s population is only 0.3% of the world’s population… I feel small now

The Australian Bureau of Statistics takes some of the data from the last Census - conducted in 2006 - and turns it into a simple interactive movie, to show just a few of the interesting things that the Census can tell us about Australia’s people and population.

Back with the interviews today. Very glad to chat with Michael Hill, Founder and CEO at holler, a multi-award winning digital agency based in Sydney.

Q1. What is the number one thing about your job that gets you out of bed in the morning?

New Work. Or the possibility of new work. Our industry moves so quickly that we are constantly shifting and changing what we offer, chasing the tail of consumer behaviour. I’m not sure we’ll ever catch up but it’s pretty fun trying. In many ways it’s also a vanity thing I guess. The thought of creating something truly useful to our audience, and enviable by my peers is what drives me.
