Orangina & the Facebook nostalgia

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the brand, Orangina is out with a nice Facebook app that helps you remembering who your first Original Facebook friends have been. I know it sounds weird, sometimes you feel Facebook has been around forever, so it’s kind of fun to remember when and how everything started.

The application creates a list of your top 10 Facebook friends who gave you your first likes, posts and comments, sorted by date. And, as a souvenir, you can save a picture of these friends in your photo album.

I like the campaign because it’s super simple, and it makes a lot of sense for a brand who wants to celebrate its anniversary. Most importantly I think it has a huge potential in terms of word of mouth, as it taps in the kind of curiosity a lot of spam applications are proving successful to trigger (eg. see who is looking at your profile etc…). So I would be curious to see the results in a month time. If the mechanisms doesn’t work, than it really means people got tired of branded Facebook apps.
