Mastercard targets football fans

Mobileway is supporting Mastercard in a mobile marketing campaign targeting Euro 2004 football championship spectators visiting Portugal. MasterCard has distributed over two million competition entry forms to participating outlets in Lisbon and Oporto, which are currently being distributed to customers using their MasterCard cards to pay for purchases. Each bears a unique single-use code number allowing the holder to compete for instant cash prizes which are paid out in-store. Winners will receive a real-time text message and will also be entered for a weekly draw, with prizes including tickets to Euro 2004 matches and dinner with Portuguese soccer superstar Eus�bio. Short-dial international phone numbers will be used to ensure that all Euro 2004 visitors can take part, regardless of which GSM operator they use. Read more in the press release.

Coca Cola ‘Decibel Central’ promotion

Mobliss has brought two-way wireless text messaging to Cokemusic.com’s Fall 2003 under-the-cap “Decibel Central” promotion. As explained in the press release, Mobliss new technology allows Coca-Cola consumers in the U.S. to redeem cap codes from 20-oz. bottles via Short Message Service (SMS) enabled mobile phones. Participants can enter cap codes using their mobile phones to accrue points, or ‘Decibels,’ in their Decibel Central account on Cokemusic.com entering for chances to win one of thousands of prizes. Rouben Haroutoonian, Vice President of Sales and Client Services for Mobliss says:

“This innovation allows the consumer to communicate instantaneously with the brand directly from the point of sale. While drinking their Cokes, consumers can immediately participate in the program by redeeming cap codes on-the-go via their mobile phones, with no need to save bottle-caps.”

Premium rate SMS (PSMS) is the term that describes the charging of a premium to consumers, for a text message that is either sent or received by their mobile phone. On Flytext website, Thomas Schuster answers a lot of questions concerning Premium Rate SMS. It’s a very interesting contribute that helps understanding how to run a wireless campaign. Recently the Flytext mobile campaign Movie Rewind has been featured in a case study presented on Revolution Magazine. Movie Rewind targeted an audience aged 16-35 with competitions linked to films such as Lethal Weapon, Dirty Harry, The Rock, City of Angels and Erin Brockovich.
