Introducing… Nike Goal for the iPhone

December 18, 2008 at 9:42 by Martina Comments

I apologise, but I need again some space for self promotion…
I’m very proud to share with you Nike Goal, an application for the iPhone that we at Nike Italy developed together with the Italian agency H-Art. Nike Goal has launched only seven days ago, with no press release, no promotion at all, but it’s already one of the most downloaded free applications on iTunes Apps Store Italia.

Nike Goal is an application that brings the world of live on your iPhone. It features live scores from the Serie A matches, highlighting the goals by Nike players and showing the boot they are wearing. On top of this, Nike Goal features also all the latest news about Nike products, players and stories. And this is just the beginning, we have a lot of ideas to make it richer, more interactive and fun to use!

I would be super happy if you could check it out and let me know your thoughts. I can’t say this is an open source project because technically it wouldn”t be correct, but I really would like the application to growth with the help of the public. We launched a nice branded service around football, but this is just the kick off of a match where the feedback, the compliments as well as the critics from the users will help us making the difference and deliver a great Nike experience on the iPhone. This is why together with the app we also launched a micro-site where people can send us their suggestions and comments.

The software is available worldwide in Italian and English. If you want to download it, this is the link to the version on Apps Store Italia, while with this you can get it on the US Store. If you are based in any other country, just go to your local iTunes Store and look for Nike Goal among the Sports applications.

Enjoy! I will really appreciate any feedback you will feel like giving me!

    Well done guys!

In that last screen grab, does the app keep track of how many goals a particular nike cleat scores, regardless of the players? Cuz that’s prettty cool if it does.

What a terrific example of brand marketing. Brilliant, adding value to your consumer’s life, seeking feedback on the product, growing organically based on utility and utilizing the frictionless distribution and amplification power of the App Store. It’s no wonder that Nike sales continue to grow in this down market. Well done on the part of your team Martina and the folks at H-Art. Nike offers a wealth of opportunity for these creative applications, but every brand needs to think about what piece of information can help my consumer and how can we provide that information to them.

Awesome! I really like the look and feel of the co-branding. How did you get Nike to buy in? I have a site with exclusive rights to all state high school championship events. It would be great to have Nike be a part of that. Do you have any suggestions for how to pursue this opportunity?
