To celebrate it’s 20th anniversary, Taxi is giving something back to the people of Montreal.  It’s great to see an agency do something for and with a community - and the advertising that goes around it is great too.  This generous act will no doubt be repaid with ‘award gold’.

After the great success of the online ordering service, Domino Pizza is going wireless. Next year Domino will launch a text ordering and delivery service. As New Media Age reports, Domino’s already has a shortcode (61212) and the service will be operated in-house.

Text to find the best pub

Finding the best pub using your mobile phone will become an easy operation with the launch of The Good Pub Mobile Guide. The service, recently presented in the UK, allows users to send the text code “goodpub” in order to receive a location-based premium sms with the indication of the closest pub featured in the guide. People with a WAP-enabled phone can also receive a link to an on-line map.

“Cook Express” for mobile phones

Last week Wine Spectator announced a mobile service to provide users with wine informations anytime anywhere. As a logical consequence, the Food Network has decided to launch a similar service for recipes. You can’t drink a good wine without eating something. So Airborne Entertainment has developed “Cook Express”, a mobile application containing high-quality recipes and helpful tips from some of the Food Network’s most celebrated chefs. Beth Higbee, vice president of new media at Food Network commented:

“Wireless allows us to go beyond TV and website to combine instant communication with truly useful content.”

Quit smoking with your mobile

Spanish experts are working on a system that will allow people to quit smoking with the help of their mobile phone. The service (which will cost 90 euros) will provide subscribers with helpful information via SMS to win the anxiety derived from abstinence. Will this work?
