You can now play air hockey against your cat. At SXSW Purina presented a new iPad game where (human) players have to fight for a bowl of animated Friskies cat food, battling against their very own cats. The idea of advergames for cats isn’t new, as Purina launched last year the first series of tablet games for cats only, however a digital challenge between humans and cats is probably the innovation many of us have been waiting for for ages (you know this comment is meant to be ironic, don’t you?). Micropersuasion reports Purina, the Nestlé animal food brand, has started podcasting. The Animal Advice is a weekly podcast featuring veterinarians and pet lovers talking about pet training, behavioral theories and pet insurance. Purina is a brand which pays quite a lot of attention to the new marketing trends. It already has a wireless section where pet owners can download ringtones (Barking Dog, Meowing Kitty or Purina theme) and mobile wallpapers, furthermore it offers a series of RSS feeds on pet related issues.
R/GA, the interactive agency that works for Purina (a pet food producer), has created a tv spot to promote its new Web site for pet owners. As explained on AdWeek, this is the first time that R/GA produces a tv spot since 1999. For Nestle Purina, it has created Web sites for Nestle Purina brands including Cat Chow, Purina One and Tidy Cats.
