The Ex Lover Blocker App

on June 27, 2012 by Martina Comments

Content blocking apps are growing in popularity. You can block football scores to be able to watch the game later (see Heineken) or you can decide to block ads that promote impossible beauty (see Dove). Now, you can also help those friends who recently were dumped by their girlfriends and can’t help trying to call them back to prolong the humiliation. In Brazil, Guaraná Antarctica has launched an amusing Ex-Lover Blocker App that will prevent your friends from dialing their Ex number. If they ignore the block, the world will make fun of them on social media. Evil, but cool.

Wash the dishes… or pay the bill?

on May 19, 2012 by Martina Comments

Another cool project for an uncool brand. In Brazil sponge brand Scotch-Brite created an amusing experience marketing initiative in partnership with several restaurants around the city of São Paulo. When people got their bills, they also received an invitation to wash their dishes. In exchange, they could leave the place without paying the check. Read more…

Now Google can even improve your English!

on May 10, 2012 by Martina Comments

I’m sure you noticed the English of my posts is far from being perfect. My accent is the same, I’m probably better than 90% of the Italians but, still, sometime I do feel I’m speaking like Donnie Brasco. Forget about it, there are words I just cannot pronounce right (ask me the difference between team and Tim for example…). Well, I eventually found the perfect website to improve: EasyWay Test. Using Google’s speech recognition technology the site, designed for EasyWay Language Center, helps you improving your pronunciation while also having some fun. Read more…

Vocal browsing: more than a gimmick

on April 20, 2012 by Martina Comments

A website that can be navigated only using your voice probably is not a totally new idea. What is new and smart is that someone actually used the gimmick to reinforce and deliver its business proposition. Your Music School is a school for vocal education in Hamburg. To generate more applicants for the school‘s vocal coaching courses they launched a website that could be navigated without a mouse but by using one‘s own voice. The eight menu items on the navigation are arranged on a scale. By singing the appropriate notes one can directly hit the desired menu item and discover in playful interactive way the services provided by the school. Read more…

Dunkin’ Donuts Flavor Radio

on March 30, 2012 by Martina Comments

From South Korea, a jaw dropping campaign that mixes radio, ambient and a (not so light) touch of Big Brother. In order to increase awareness of Dunkin’ Donuts as a coffee brand and drive traffic to the stores, coffee aroma atomizers got installed on commuters buses in Seoul. The machines were triggered every time the Dunkin’ Donuts radio ad was played, releasing in the air a light coffee aroma to reinforce the sensory connection and experience with the brand. Read more…

Video of the day: A Dog Day Afternoon

on March 13, 2012 by Martina Comments

As my job and my career are evolving, I’m becoming more and more a fan of video storytelling. From TV commercials, to branded short movies, music video clips and random individual projects, I just love admiring the ability that some people has to tell stories, engage, entertain, explain places and share feelings using a video camera and a good dose of ability and creativity. There is so much talent out there, that every day I happen to watch at least one video that grabs my attention, this is why I decided to start a regular (possibly) daily feature here on Adverblog, to celebrate the heroes of Vimeo and not only. Tarantino from below. Wes Anderson from above

on March 1, 2012 by Martina Comments

Kogonada is a genius. His latest work is dedicated to Quentin Tarantino: a video remix collecting shots looking up at characters in the films of the Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Bastards director. It’s not original content, but it’s definitely an original idea, super well produced and absolutely entertaining to watch, for Tarantino’s fans and not only. Read more…
